Snow Play

Last night was so much fun! Heather, Alex, and I took the Alex's snow skate out and attempted to learn how to use it. Well, rather Heather and I tried learn while Alex who already knows it watched our attempts.
After we got tired of falling, we went up to the Douglas snow fort and had fun making improvements. It was pretty incredible to begin with, so really we were just building up the walls higher. We figured if we build up the back and side walls really high, we can call the front panel an awesome skylight window since it was the view out onto the mountain. We even delegated out jobs. I was the brick maker-I sat up on the hill and found huge snow chunks and rolled them down, Heather was the brick layer-she stacked them appropriately and logically, and Drew was the mortar- he layed and packed the snow between snow bricks to make sure they held. We were highly successful overall and it was really quite fabulous. It already has a bench, a fridge and a garbage can for beer cans, two windows, and a backdoor secret slide entrance(which I learned I can go down, but I really suck at climbing back up).
Of course the evening could only be completed by sharing the biggest cup of noodles I've ever seen-it took three of us to eat the thing. Sheer deliciousness.

Winter Sports Time!

So I'm up at Schweitzer, and as usual its a wonderful time. Last night we went sledding, but we went down the ski runs, starting at the terrain park down thru the bunny hill. It was a lot of fun, and we weren't supposed to be there. (One-because the slopes were closed, and two-because your not supposed to sled the slopes at all.) I was on a toboggan which wouldn't steer so I kept falling off and was slower than all the others. As a result I was one of the two of us caught by a groomer and chastised. Then when we got to the bunny hill jumps, a guy yelled at us from the lodge balcony and waved a flashlight threateningly at us. Then they sent the groomers down there to chase us off. It was an adventure!
This morning I went and rented ski gear, and Heather, Alex, and I spent all morning out on the slopes. I love this mountain. Heather gave me an awesome shirt for Christmas that is thin, really warm, and dries super fast for traveling purposes, but its perfect for skiing! I know my legs are going to be nice and sore tomorrow, which is awesome. Today only my right arm is sore, and sadly, that's because Heather and I were Wii sword fighting yesterday for a little too long.

pranks

So I'm sitting at the bagelshop on my day off because the artic wind has finally come down so it's really cold, and being the cheapskate I am, my apartment is also rather chilly. But the real reason I chose to come here of all places is that I am attempting to prank my mom. She's not particularly tech. savvy, so I've taken great pleasure in spending my morning learning how to make my own ringtones. I currently have a ringtone of Tardy for the Party waiting for her, and I'm going to assign it to Morgan so that we can call her when all the bagel girls are at dinner tomorrow night. It's only fair that we all get to partake in the joy of seeing her shocked and horrified face, right?
But of course, since it's so cold, as soon as get here, she grabs her purse(cell phone inside) and goes to let the dogs out since she can't leave them outside. She better get back soon, because I want to make sure I get her all taken care of, and my computer battery is draining quicker than I would wish.
I'm also trying to determine more such pranks to play, because I'm having far more fun than I should doing this. And it's far more fun, and more successful than trying to figure out what to get her for Christmas. I've been scrounging for ideas all month, and still nothing! So if anyone has ideas for either, let me know!

Living life.

Life is short, you have to appreciate what you have. So many people go in freak accidents, for all you know this could be your last day. You always have to make the moment, cause each moment could be your last. My coworkers father died the other day. He was geocaching and fell off a cliff. I can't even believe that actually happened, it's like a bad novel. I didn't know him, so I can't say I'm sad about it, more just shocked that it actually happened. It's so surreal. It makes me want to go out and do things even more though, make the most of what I have. We can't stop death, only make the most out of life. Unless you happen to know a vampire, but depending on which types of vampires you read about, that could be an even worse thing. Ah well, I guess I'll just stick with my humanity and enjoy what I have.

Man who died in cliff fall identified

From staff reports The Spokesman-Review

Stuart Anderson died Monday after falling from a cliff in the Dishman Hills Natural Area.

A memorial fund for Stuart Anderson has been set up at Spokane Teachers Credit Union. Donations can be made at any branch in Anderson’s name.

The 56-year-old Spokane Valley killed Monday after falling from a cliff in the Dishman Hills Natural Area was identified Tuesday by his family.

Stuart Anderson was “geocaching” with his wife Monday afternoon, when he apparently slipped on wet pine needles and fell about 100 to 150 feet off a sheer rock cliff to his death, the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office said. Geocaching is a GPS-aided treasure hunting game, where geocachers use GPS coordinates left on Internet sites to find prizes left by others.

Anderson’s family issued the following statement:

“There are no words to describe how meaningful he was to everyone he knew.

He was a loving father, husband, grandfather, son, brother, and friend.

His humor and zest for life will be deeply missed.

He is the best thing that ever happened to all of us.

Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers.”

According to a family spokesman, a memorial service for Anderson has been scheduled for November 20 at Heritage Congregation. The time has yet to be announced.

So the last two days of just continued in awesomeness. They are legen-wait for it-dairy. Haha, couldn't resist that one. Friday we stuck around Upper Montclair and it is a gorgeous area. We went and had brunch at Jackie's Grillette and went shopping (though we only really bought things at the bookstore). Then we went out for dinner with the family for Liam's 6th birthday. They are such cute kids! All in all, it was a pretty low key day, though I think Meridith and David were kinda surprised that we would rather do the family dinner, play with the kids and the kittens and watch a funny movie before going to bed, instead of going out and doing a Pub Crawl. Althuogh a Pub Crawl would be fun, I just don't think I would have had the energy to get through one and still make it back to the house at the end of the night.
Then yesterday Jen and I went back into NYC. Today we walked around and saw a lot. We started with the Chrysler Building and Grand Central Station, followed it up with the Empire State Building, walked to Little Italy and Chinatown (where we bartered for purses), and then continued south to the site of the Two Towers (although its just a construction site now). Then we took the Subway back up north, checked out Times Square and the library before going to dinner. David got us reservations at Sparks Steakhouse. I don't think I've ever eatten somewhere so fancy and probably never will again. OMG. It was so delicious! I definitely felt rather out of place though, I don't think two girls dressed for wandering the city all day are their normal patrons. Best steak I've ever eatten though. To top that we went to Chicago. I was sadly a little disappointed by this show. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't everything that I had been expecting. Wicked put it to shame in my mind. Then David's driver Nabil came to pick us up and take us home. This actually rather amused me. We insisted we could take the bus but David wouldn't hear of it. Turns out it's because he was worried when we took it back the other night and sat up all night until he heard us come home! Made me feel bad because if I had known he wasn't alseep I would have gladly sent him a text to let him know where we were and that we were ok. Jen and I have been officially spoiled though, and were not really entirely sure what to make of it, particularly Jen. Were going to try and set up something nice for David and Meridith but were still trying to figure out what!

East Coast

So I've been over here for a day and a half now. I'm staying with David and Meridith in their home in New Jersey, which is gorgeous! (Both the home and NJ). Jen came over with me and we've been having a blast. Spent yesterday evening playing with Ainsley and Liam, and they are the sweetest kids ever. Then this morning we walked to the creperie for breakfast. After spending the morning wandering around, we hopped on the bus to NYC. So much fun! We bought our city passes and went to the MOMA and the Museum of Natural History. Saw all sorts of cool things. We also wandered through Central Park for awhile. It was pouring rain all day, but we still had a great time. One guy was singing by the museum for money and he was so good! We gave him some money after sitting around for four songs.
After all of our exploring, we went to a fabulous little Italian restaurant for dinner, and then off to Broadway for our first show. We saw Wicked, and it was fantastic! Thanks Janaya, for getting the whole soundtrack stuck in my head a couple years ago. It totally built up the anticipation, and I was not let down. Just wish I could have bought the Defying Gravity T-shirt, but I wasn't about to fork over $40 for that. I'll just have to make my own instead at some point.
Tomorrow were going to explore Upper Montclaire some more, check out their little shopping district. Then in the afternoon its Liam's 6th birthday. It should be a lot of fun and we definitely are looking forward to it. This is going to be one awesome week!

Fall so far.

So I've been really bad about updating, no matter how much I tell myself I'm going to work at being more consistent with it. So this is sort of a cumulative summary of the fall so far. I'm sitting in Cafe Moro where Heather works in Pullman doing the crossword. Life is good, ignoring that I'm a little sick. But scones and tea are putting that to rest. I met my lookalike at the bagelshop. Mike's daughter also named Nicole came into the shop for the first time.I don't think we look quite so much alike but we had fun proclaiming over it to her dad's pleasure. Our meeting had been several years in coming so it was a fun experience. My mom and I went to the Jason Mraz concert this last week. It was incredible. The concert was outdoors at Riverfront Park and it was a perfect evening. Gorgeous, perfect temperature, and great music. His opening act was G. Love and the Special Sauce and they were incredible! Definitely not what I was expecting by their group name. They sounded really similar to Jason actually.
I also went to Collin's house for a barbeque. That was a lot of fun. We played washers, beer croquet, halo, and just had an all around good time. Collin is quite a good cook too. Everything was delicious. I was just sad I was to full to eat a bowl of jummbalia.
Everyone had a lot of fun and it was good to see everyone.
Now I'm just enjoying a day off with friends though (ignoring that Heather's working since I'm at her job harassing her). It's always good to spend time with people, something I forget when I get to holed away at home. I'm glad to be out and about.

Summer Begins to Close.

I'm sitting up here at the lake, looking at a beautiful late August day, and the lake is completely still at 10am because NO ONE is up here. It's shocking to me. It's gorgeous and still warm and everyone already went home before labor day. Just means there's more space for me to enjoy though. And it's rather nice to have a slow moving lazy day after the last of this summer with its jam packed awesomeness.
San Francisco was beautiful! I walked the entire city repeatedly and after two days feel as though I know its general layout and bus systems rather well. I met random people, and had an absolute blast. It was also exciting to do so alone and know that Yes. I can travel alone and get on just fine. Just after walking Lumbard St. I met three amazing ladies at an Irish Pub where we shared stories of music, travel, and chocolate over Irish coffee.

There were two exceedingly sweet ladies I met on the bus while moving to see Tut's exhibit at the De Young museum. I regularly saw them over the course of the day as we were viewing a lot of the same things and it was fun to see a familiar face and be able to give a jaunty wave. Walked the Golden Gate Bridge, which was a crazy fun experience. Saw a kid with a pirate puppet on it too, using it like a ventriloquist and making it wave at the city.

I received free wine and a rose for going to an Italian restuarant as a lady on Sunday night, climbed Coit tower, went to the aquarium, traveled under the bridge, and saw a ton of art at 6 different museums!

Overall it's been an amazing summer full of surfing, traveling, swimming, rock jumping, and making plans for so many more travels. I can't wait to get out and see the world! In fact, I'm thinking about making a bucketlist.

Sunday, August 2, 2009

It's been an awfully fun couple weeks. Lots of tubing with battle wounds to prove it. We all went up to the Upper Lake, swimming at the sunken islands, rock jumping at Indian Rock, and all manner of sports in between. Best of all, I learned to successfully surf without the handle this week, with by far my best run this morning.

These couple weeks at the end of July and beginning of August are always the prettiest and most fun. All of John's family is up here and its been sunny and warm. The water is 75 degrees. What more can you ask for up here. Next week I'll be going to Pend O'Reille Lake with Heather and her family. That will be fun too. I can't wait to go down and meet up with Jen in San Francisco too.

It's been an adventuresome week! First I finally accomplished wake surfing. That was a lot of fun.Riley took his favorite rock with him everywhere. Carried it the whole 2.5 mile walk and then back again so he could play fetch with it. Unfortunately he lost it on the first throw and had to find a new rock. He's such a not head. Then on Wednesday my mom and I drove to the Portland Expo Antique Show. I bought a cornet which I am very excited about. It was a lot of fun. We left Portland yesterday around 10:30 and headed north for Snohomish antiquing all the way. Then we took Steven's pass to Cashmere and Wenatchee. After dinner at 7:30, we decided on a whim to take highway 2 to Spokane, and since it was dusk and only 30 min. off our path, we decided to go to Grand Coulee Dam and watch the laser show. It was fabulous and a beautiful drive. We didn't make it home until around 12:30 at night, but it was an awfully fun trip.

    Woo Hoo!

Just made it up to the lake and my car got 47 mpg! Woot! Can't really beat that for a non-hybrid. Plus it was a beautiful drive. I always love coming up at sunset, the colors as you drive through the panhandle are gorgeous. Thanks Lauren for taking my shift so I could come up!

I had a lot of fun in the tri-cities too. Ate tons of raspberries and cherries and got to play with the cousins for a couple of days. Mind you that tends to mean I played with Garrett and Gage. George spent all his time not at work playing guitar hero alone in the basement. As Nancie puts it, hes antisocial. I have never seen a better example of such behavior.
We had a bonfire too the first night I was there. It was a lot of fun, talking, listening to Dane Cook, and enjoying a lovely evening. Unfortunately Garrett got food poisoning that night, but the rest of us made the most of it. And at least he felt back to normal the next day too, so he could start to hang out with everyone else again.

Sitting at my mom's house, waiting for my laundry to finish. In short, I am bored. I'm watching the new mini-series called Merlin though, its kind of fun, if very much not based in the legend beyond names. Not that I can expect too much more than that though. Reeeeeeeeeeeally fakey dragon. I am not impressed with that one at all.

My mom has been trying to claim my new car is hers, and she finally got me to let her drive it today. I told her if I couldn't call the accord mine, she can't call my car hers. I don't think she likes hearing that though.

My mom gave me my graduation present today too. It amused me because she always makes fun of me when I give it to her for her birthday.

I'm excited to go to the tri-cities tomorrow too. It'll be good to see everyone.

    New Travel Quotes

“I suspect that we ramblers, we motion addicts, suffer from a kind of difference addiction, too. We like to see change, to observe X and Y and then ponder the slope of the line that might be drawn between them. Things change back home; the weather, for example - that creek that floods then recedes. But those places on the other side of various borders - and as I write this I’m just five hours from Mexico - make for the steepest slopes, the largest differences.”

    ~Mitchell Stevens

“Real travel requires a maximum of unscheduled wandering, for there is no other way of discovering surprises and marvels, which, as I see it, is the only good reason for not staying at home."

    ~Alan Watts

    Go far.
    Stay long.
    See deep.
And may the sun rise twice before you sleep.

    ~Unknown

A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving.

    ~Lao Tzu

"Without new experiences, something inside of us sleeps. The sleeper must awaken."

    ~Frank Herbert

    Airplane!

I'm up at the lake, and was just sitting at the kitchen table with Jinnie when we heard the strangest sound. When she asked me what it was I looked out the window and responded in a casual tone, "An airplane." It took Jinnie about 5 seconds to register what I had actually said and double take for indeed, a small seaplane had chipped its prop and been forced to land on our beach. Quite an adventure it was!

After awhile it had to putter down 7 cabins to Gary Fry's beach so he could pull it up further out of the water. The poor guy's from Sandpoint and has to wait for his wife to come pick him up and then return tomorrow with a new part.

    Finally

So after 5 years, I am finally a college graduate. Woot! We'll ignore that it was a very long, very hot ceremony in the sun dressed all in black. Really I paid attention to nothing except when it was going to be over, but that's okay, cause it is over!
What was interesting though was that of our original music theory class as beginning music majors of 45 or so. Jim, Will, Karmen and I are the only 4 who graduated this year. Everyone else has been at Eastern longer. That's quite a downsize for us. This photo is all the music graduates for this year except Will, Karmen, Andrea, and Theresa who came within the next 5 minutes, and Dani who didn't walk. We have all had some great times together though. We spent the whole walk to the football field singing "We Are the Champions" at the top of our lungs, and then proceeded to create new harmonies to go along with "Pomp and Circumstance." I'm fairly certain we managed to bother quite a few other people with this, but it kept us sane!

    Wednesday, June 10, 2009

So, I have totally slacked off on writing yet again. Just thought about it the other day and figured I should probably try to get myself back into the habit again. That is if you could call my random and sporadic posts a habit. That's okay though. I finished school, that's rather exciting. Graduation is on Saturday. I'm excited to see Leslie, can't believe she's flying up from LA. I look forward to seeing her.

The lake was beautiful this week, as per usual. I can't wait til we get the boat in the water. I want to break in the new surfboard. Other than that, life is pretty normal. Just keep plugging along.

    continuing the good days!

Another beautiful day. Yesterday I picked up my car from Dee's and he didn't charge me for the repairs. Then I went to Starbucks this morning, and when I got up to the window, the lady informed me the guy in the car in front of mine had paid for me. Then I went to get my roof fixed and they didn't charge me for my repair either! And while I waited for it to get fixed I went and read in the park. It is so beautiful outside again! 75 degrees! Can't go wrong with that. I also went to the Viking for dinner tonight with Steph. It was as delicious as I had been hoping for. Good food is always good. Yum. I am loving this week!

    Another Beautiful Day!

Spring is finally here, hurrah! I love being able to bike around again and wear shorts. Makes such a difference in you're perspective on life. Everyone on campus was in a good mood today. And to top it off I got a gyro, my car back from the shop, and got my new instrument from the Thompson's today (they were bringing it back from Portland for me since it wouldn't fit in my carry on). Life is good this week. Big words on a Monday.

It was definitely First Weekend in Cheney though. Somehow a picnic bench ended up wedged in a bus stop. I'm guessing alcohol was likely involved.
It did not fit well. That trash can in there will never be quite the same again. Jen and I also wandered around Manito Park for a while at her request. It was so beautiful! We went up to the gazebo in the Zen Garden too, the one covered in ___ hearts____. Lost among the misplaced declarations of love, I did find one morsel worth keeping.

"I'll be the phonograph that plays your favorite albums back
as you're lying there, drifting off to sleep..."
I love discovering a gem among the rubble.

Palm Springs is beautifully warm I must say. I think I'm beginning to thaw out from the Pacific Northwest's winter ridiculousness. Portland wasn't much better weather wise, but it was still really good to see Heather, Brittany, and Jenn. We ended up spending most of the day at the Portland Zoo. It was a lot of fun and I really miss not having them around much anymore. I feel bad for Heather though, her CT completely messed up her student teaching, lied about what she had accomplished of her requirements, and won't let her back in the classroom. Now she can graduate, but she can't get her teaching certificate. It's pretty bad. Hopefully she'll get it all taken care of this year and not have to repeat her student teaching in the fall. Not especially pleased with Eastern either. For some unknown reason I have NC under my grade for student teaching...there better be a good reason because I did everything my observer and my handbook told me to do. I guess I'll find out when I get back. For now I'm just going to enjoy the sunshine.

    MS Concert

I just directed my first concert tonight. It went really well, and was a lot of fun. The kids performed very well. It's going to be hard to tell them goodbye. I had a couple of them come up and chastise me afterwards for not giving them any warning that this was my last week amongst them. Apparently they were absent the day it came up in class. I enjoyed everything I learned from them these last 3 months.

After we finished tearing down the stage I ended up getting into a philosophical discussion with the janitor Robert. It was fantastic. We have very similar views of the world and how life should be lived and experienced. He taught me his viewpoint that we all have a set path. This is not fate though, merely the path we should travel to get all the experiences we were meant to have, to learn what we were meant to learn, etc. We are allowed to deviate from this path, but its like driving down a road lined with bushes. You can go off the road, but you are forging a path where one wasn't before, and your going to rip off a mirror and ding your bumper along the way. I taught him about the thought that every person, place, or object gives off its own unique vibration. Like attracts like, not necessarily the same, as unisons get boring, but more the idea of a chord. The one, three, five, and seven of a chord are all different notes, but the harmonize their vibrations and fit together in a way a one and a flat five never will. This is why two different people could wander the world, and run into each other. Or why you can meet people in vastly different areas and times who have experienced at another time something the same as you. We are attracted to these complimentary vibrational patterns. This theory is something that was very common in the older Eastern religions, and as been lost to most of the Western World. I did study the concept briefly in music history though. It refers to the Music of the Spheres. A very fascinating concept that is credited to Pythagoras originally, but made popular and almost famous by Johannes Kepler in his work Harmonices Mundi in 1619.

It always reminds me too, of the song we used to sing at band camp. Slightly morbid, but very true, and it always makes me feel better for some reason, especially when I combine it with this theorum.
"All things shall perish from under the sky. Music alone shall live. Music alone shall live. Music alone shall live, never to die."

I also found the translation for this in French, German, Danish, and a couple other languages. I think this alone says something about the immortality of music, both culturally and scientifically.
This concept goes back to basic physics, that energy never ends, it is merely transmitted into another form. Kinetic energy grows as gravitational potential energy decreases when you roll a ball down a hill. Same idea, once the vibration starts, technically it never stops. Sure it may change its state of appearance and no longer resemble a vibration as we would recognize it today, but it is still there. That song you sang with the radio in your car on your way home, is still out there, change shape and state, but always present. It is part of the world and will never leave. So if we all create our own vibration, we always exist in a sense. Yes we will die and move on, but there is an echo of us resonating through time.

Robert also had the opinion that we never meet someone we are not intended to meet. We all give and take something from eachother. We all learn something, and then pass it on again. For example, maybe I was not the one intended for this message from him. Maybe it was intended for someone who will read this blog in passing someday, but as they never will have met Robert, I became the facilitator, the middle man who passed the message along. There is always a purpose to what is happening.

Life is merely a series of contrast. If nothing bad ever happens to you, sure you can recognize that you had a good life, but can you appreciate what that really means? You can only have something as great as you have had something horrible. You can only play music as loud as you can play it quiet. Silence is nothing without sound, enemies are nothing without friends, the future is nothing without the past. You have to take everything that is given you in life and enjoy it. Robert told me to live in the present, because that's what it is, a present. An excellent lesson if ever I heard one.

Well, it's been a day. My car roof leaks, I learned to take down light fixtures today, and I took my roommate to some of the scenic views in Spokane. She'd never been to Pioneer Park before even though we live a mere 7-8 blocks from it. That's okay though, it's prettiest at night anyway.

I'd put up the before shots of the kitchen all plastic wrapped, but I'm pretty sure my mom would kill me for doing so. So you'll just have to imagine no lighting and a lot of plastic. But I think my pizza's done cooking so I'm going to go eat now instead.

This guy is my new hero, and I want the music. I highly recommend watching all his videos, especially outtakes and filming with the Huli Wigmen. All under

Also, I discovered WWOOF today, which is pretty exciting. I was looking into farms in Denmark. Can't wait to get out into the world, and I'm just one day closer today. Had my last observed lesson today, and was basically informed I had passed student teaching. Now I'm just going through the formalities of finishing. I had 2 students come tell me I was not allowed to leave yesterday because they like me too much and I was too cool. Why couldn't my classmates think that when I was IN high school...oh well, I was still very touched. The rest of the class when informed demanded we throw me a goodbye party, though this may have been more for their own desire to have a party. Still felt good, told them I would send them a postcard from Europe. The idea of that makes me happy, so I think I just might have to do so.

    Looking Forward.

So I've been sick all weekend...that's been a load of fun! Not really all that bad, just made me super tired. I'm counting down days til this quarter is over though. Two more weeks to get through, and my Praxis II test. I think I can handle that, it's awful close after all.

    Evening out.

So I'm sitting around my apartment getting ready for an evening out, which is rather exciting seeing as how it's been awhile. I feel kinda lame though as I wasn't able to make it out to Medical Lake today since I couldn't get my car alarm to turn off so I can get into it. Not much I could do about that though, lame as it was. Oh well. Was a fairly unproductive day all in all. I didn't a tiny amount of cleaning, baked brownies, and that's about it. Oh the life I live some days.

Went digging through my old photo box last night. Came across some great memories. It's easy to forget how good life is sometimes until you see the little things again. I got to start using smartmusic today. It's a brilliant program, I just haven't figured out quite how to use it yet. I think it could be a lot of fun though. I also just purchased my tickets for spring break and I can't wait. I'm going to spend a couple days with Jenn, Brittany, and Heather in Vancouver before continuing down to Palm Springs to see Don and Jinnie. It should be a fantastic break!

I'm officially on my 4th week of student teaching now. It's weird to think I'm that far into it already. I think it's going well though. Definitely keeps me busy though. It's a good thing. It'll be nice to be done though. I have a feeling it will go by fast though.

    A new Quarter

So yesterday was supposed to be my first day of student teaching, but there was a snow day. Jen and I were trying to go down to Lewiston, but it was whiteout conditions. It was kinda crazi. Instead we ended up chilling all over Spokane and watching movies. We saw Yes Man and movie hoped to Desperaux. Both were very fun movies and it was really a very good day. I also started working on my thesis. I don't think it will be especially hard to write by anymeans. I'm also about to go to student teaching today now. Today was two hours late. This weather is absurd right now. I can't believe how much it has put life on hold. Oh well! Just keep puttering through.

    A whole new year.

So I'm chillaxing at Schweitzer. It's been a fun couple of days here. We went sledding to bring in the New Year last night, and had an all around good time. We taught Collin's girlfriend Courtney to ski today, which was a lot of fun. She forgot to get off the chairlift. It was amusing for sure. Heather and I are sitting downstairs eating popcorn and just all around relaxing. It's rather nice. Not a bad way to start a new year. I start student teaching on Monday...that's kinda weird to think about. I'm not really stressing about it at all though which is nice and unexpected. I'm really kind of excited for it. I hope it goes well. So hear's a toast to the new year! May it be a fun and beautiful one!
