It's Been a Week

This last week has been rather fun and interesting. It started on St. Paddy's Day. Morgan and I decided to go out and meet up with some of her old high school friends for the evening. We started out at Jimmy'z (where I learned Morgan can't take shots-something to be soon rectified), hung out at Zola's, and had a late late dinner at the Satellite. At one point in the evening we attempted to trade mardi gras beads for an awesome headband, but the girl was kinda heinous and told us no in a rather piss off kind of manner. I was rather disappointed in that, at least laugh about it even if you won't make the trade. Although lets be honest, I probably would have traded just to have the story to tell afterward.
The day after I woke up energized and rearing to go. Getting bored rather quickly, I texted my roommate and asked for a direction. Thankfully we had discussed that I would be someday soon doing just such a thing and she responded with a prompt, "SOUTH!" So I got in my car and drove south to Rosalia, looped back up on the old 195, back down to Colfax, took the Walla Walla exit and ended up coming to Ritzville from the south before heading home. It was absolutely gorgeous outside and I enjoyed every bit of my adventure. Stopping to take pictures whenever took my fancy along the way, I found some pretty cool things, including a one room building off the side of the road which said "Interested in Time Travel Meet Here" and a truck stating I was entering wheat country. I can't wait to take my next get in the car and see what you see adventure. I may go all the way north to Canada and have a Canadian adventure even. Maybe try setting up a bed in the back of my car, well see how it goes.
Then on Saturday, Finders Keepers was doing an event for the Spokane Presevation Society. It was western themed so we were all wearing old 1900 skirts, red button downs, cowboy boots and cowboy hats. It was sooo much fun! Nyla, Eric and I started a mini-competition to who would raise the most money selling the sheriff badges and I totally expected to loose as the other two are awesome sales people. I was rather satisfied when my sales equaled theirs combined and I had to go steal more badges from both of them because I kept running out. We managed to raise almost $700 for the society, and then got to have fun prancing around in our western wear the rest of the evening. I love doing events like that, especially when its dressed as something I normally would never do. I have so much fun getting into personna and just putting on a show all evening. Its really great and I'm happy that Deena always seems to want to take me along to the events.

To Making It Count

I had a sudden intense urge to watch Titanic tonight, and who am I to deny? It really is quite fun, especially when Rose goes up on her toes to prove her toughness. I wouldn't be opposed to living as Jack did, minus the whole going down with the ship thing. His motto of making each day count is really quite empowering, especially since it lead to the party in steerage. That was definitely the real party to be at. I feel especially sappy that I'm almost crying here at the end of it. Well, at least until she "accidentally" drops the Heart of the Ocean. That scene is rather ridiculous, although I suppose they had to dispose of it for the plot line. But I love how she did as he asked, and made each moment count, and did all that she had dreamed.
So here's to making it count, to the moments:

"The purpose of life is to matter, to count, to stand for something; to have it make some difference that we lived at all."
Leo Rosten

Life all comes down to a few moments. This is one of them.
Charlie Sheen

Life is a succession of moments, To live each one is to succeed.
Corita Kent

There are all sorts of strange things and experiences that happen to you over the course of your life, moments where you can't possibly believe what is happening other than for the reason that it is.
Richard Gough

"We do not remember days, we remember moments."
Cesare Pavese

Life is filled with so many exciting twists and turns. Hop off the straight and narrow whenever you can and take the winding paths. Experience the exhilaration of the view from the edge. Because the moments spent there, that take your breath away, are what make you feel truly alive."

I'll meet you in Wisconsin

Went to twigs with Morgan last night and had a delicious dinner. We determined that since she won't be able to go to Europe with me, that we will drive cross country on scooters together at some point in the future. We were joking about how when were both teachers and have summers off, even if we live on opposite sides of the country, well call each other up and pick somewhere to meet up. Being the smart ass I am I told her, "I'm going to call you up and say I'll meet you in Wisconsin in 3 days!" morgan got such a kick out of this that we determined that's our new phrase. So Morgan, someday I'll meet you in wisconsin on scooters and you can damn well bet we will be eating some chili and cheese while were there!

gonna be tired tomorrow!

So I officially have my layout for tomorrow (+12 hours or so...). Tonight, I'm cleaning my apartment (completely) because I'll be out of town all weekend, and packing. Tomorrow I work at the bagelshop from 6:45-3:15. From 3:15-4:00 I clean out my car cause I'll be totting people around in it. 4:00-7:00 I work at finders keepers. 7:00-? I'm joining Morgan at a Youth Center dealio by SCC. ?-10ish, get to my mom's h0use, start my laundry, eat my dinner, get dressed to go. 10ish-pick up Jen, Ryan, and Ryan's friend and head to the Valley theatre. 12:01-Alice in Wonderland (in NOT 3D, because 3D is stupid and I'm angry that River Park Square is only showing it in 3D.). After the movie get to bed. 6:30 get up, make sure I have everything. 9:00-be on the plane and leaving for Vegas. Will I be exhausted? Hell yes. Am I looking forward to every moment of it? But of course. So when I'm comatose in a couple days, I just want you all to know why.

Best part of my day?

So we have some detectives who eat at the bagelshop a couple days a week. Today when my
Mom said we'd run the food out to them, they laughed and said we could walk it if we instead if we wanted. I told them skipping was best and I don't think they took me seriously. My day was made when the guy doubled over because he was laughing so hard as the girl I formed him, "I dared her to do that!" as I skipped happily over to their table.
